Puthur Sree Thirupuraikal Music and Dance Festival 2008
Puthur Sree Thirupuraikkal Music and Dance Festival is one of the major arts festivals of Kerala today. Over the years, this festival has taken up an important place in the cultural calendar of the state.
Puthur being located in the heart of Palakkad town attracts huge crowds, as Palakkad historically has been a place known for its artists and art lovers. Except Chennai, no city/ town in South India has such huge crowds thronging the art festivals on a consistent basis.
In earlier years artists like Dr. K. J. Yesudas, Mandolin U. Srinivas, Kadri Gopinath, Ganesh Kumaresh, Unni Menon, Sanjay Subramanian, Balamurali Krishna have adorned this stage. Over the years this festival has become an important fixture in the calendar of events in Kerala and it attracts thousands of art lovers every year.
 
 Our Mission
The festival has two noble objectives.
The primary objective is to promote the traditional, ethnic folk art forms of India, one of the binding elements in this diverse country which the west calls a subcontinent due to its diversity. We believe every Indian should have an opportunity to see and imbibe our art forms, a lot of which are dying for lack of financial support.
The secondary objectives is to create an opportunity for the common man to see these art forms performed by artists of national and international repute without spending any money as we believe money should not be an impediment to enjoy any art form for the art lover. Though festivals like Soorya and Swaralaya bring these artists, they restrict entry through passes.
